Did Obama handle his first Ft Hood statement correctly? President Obama late this afternoon expressed his sadness and shock at the murderous rampage at Fort Hood.
Speaking at a meeting of Native American tribal leaders at the Interior Department, the president denounced "the horrific outburst of violence" on the Texas military base.
"I would ask all Americans to keep the men and women of Fort Hood in their thoughts and prayers," Obama said.
The president said soldiers face a "difficult enough" situation defending the nation abroad, but added that it "is horrifying that they should come under fire at an Army base on American soil."
There were audible gasps of surprise from members of the audience when Obama referenced the "horrific outburst of violence" at Fort Hood.

Obama’s comments on appeasement to the indians and about Ft. Hood
Many, who heard Obama’s first Fort Hood statements as his complete statements were made, were really mad.
First, he made his appeasement and apology to American Indians then seemed to throw in a casual short comment about the terrorist attack at Fort Hood. He then went back to his appeasement speech. Many felt he should have addressed Fort Hood first and/or in a separate statement.
Many were upset with his statement today. It seems strongly indicated that it was an Islamic Extremist's influenced attack. People felt he should have made a reference to the war on terrorism. Instead, he blew off Ft. Hood and went on to talk about how “good” the economy was doing.

I think it was in poor taste when he first came on and offered a thank you to everybody then offered a “shout out” to “Dr. Joe Medicine Crow — that Congressional Medal of Honor winner.” Then more thank you. Then praise to the Native Americans.
I believe if it had been a personal incident for the President it would have been handled different. I though it was distasteful and unfeeling, cold, or indifferent of how he handled his “remarks”. COLD.
I thought the purpose of him being on T.V. at that time was to offer sympathy to the families and to denounce what the killer had done. Notice I said killer.
Barack called it a “tragic shooting .“ He went on to say, “We don't yet know all the details at this moment”, didn’t he know enough that several people had been shot and killed and others injured from gun fire??? Yes, he did know this, for he said,
What we do know is that a number of American soldiers have been killed, and even more have been wounded in a horrific outburst of violence.
I didn’t hear him denounce the senseless killing, but I did hear him say, “It is horrifying that they should come under fire at an Army base on American soil.”
Oh, it is more than “horrifying” that “they” should come under fire. It is profoundly sad and heartbreaking that our brave men and women in uniform have to suffer an attack on American soil. It is profoundly sad that anyone has to suffer at the crazed hands of a killer or assailant.
Killed, is the word he used. How about murdered or slained.
My deep felt condolences and sympathy goes out to all of the families of Ft Hood.
It's disgraceful that the US Army hires muslims, especially psychiatrists!
See what they do?
Since we let in the Irish, Germans, Brits Balts Balkans and Jews, now muslims, this country has fallen to pieces!
It's true! It was murder. That muslim colonel didn't kill those guys.. he murdered them!
He was trained to kill the bad guys, and heal the good?
Well, thats how stuff works out when not properly planned?
The bad guys run away, the good guys stay, get blown up, go crazy? Politicians get rich and re-elected. Americans are too stupid to know where their billions of dollars went.
They'd rather complain about taxes?
