World Lovefest for Obama not found in Philippines

Bayan and other cause-oriented groups are expected to launch protest rallies near the US embassy in Manila today. The groups were protesting the permanent and continuing presence of US troops in the Philippines under the Visiting Forces Agreement and the reported additional military aid from Washington for the Philippine government. 

“It has been a year since Barack Obama was swept into office, and nearly a year since he assumed the presidency. Up to know, relations between the Philippines and the US remain unchanged. These relations are still lopsided in favor of our colonizer.

“Mr. Obama, Ms. Clinton, where is the change?” said Bayan secretary general Renato Reyes Jr.
