President Obama attended today's Oregon State-George Washington University basketball game to cheer on his brother-in-law, Beavers coach Craig Robinson. The first lady, Malia and Sasha Obama, and President Obama's mother-in-law Marian Robinson were in attendance as well. According to the AP, the family was "intensely interested in the outcome." All of the cheering paid off, as Oregon State won, 64-57. .

But there is one more significant Thanksgiving Day tradition the White House is maintaining – and that is personal phone calls from the President to troops deployed overseas on this holiday.
This morning President Obama called 10 U.S. service members to wish them a Happy Thanksgiving and to let them know how much the First lady and he are thankful for their service and sacrifice on behalf of the nation. The President called two service members in each of the five military branches. The calls to the two Army soldiers were both deployed in Afghanistan. The calls to Marines, Navy and Air Force troops were to one deployed in Iraq and one in Afghanistan. The calls to the Coast Guard went to one deployed in the Arabian Gulf and one in Iraq.
The commander in chief called to wish them Happy Thanksgiving and to let them know that he and first lady Michelle Obama are "truly thankful for their service and sacrifice on behalf of the nation," according to a statement Thursday from the White House.

Tareq and Michaele Salahi appear to have taken a more direct route to fame by allegedly gatecrashing President Obama's first White House dinner on Tuesday night.
The US Secret Service is investigating how the couple, who its spokesman, Ed Donovan, confirmed were not on the guest list, managed to breach security and attend the 300-strong event.
Donovan said an initial finding indicated that a checkpoint did not follow proper procedures to ensure the two were on the list.
The Salahis, who were described by the Washington Post as "polo-playing socialites," are also reportedly auditioning for roles in the TV programme The Real Housewives of Washington".
Donovan said the couple did not pose any danger: "It's important to note that they went through all the security screenings and the magnetometer screening, just like all the other guests did."
He added that Obama and others under Secret Service protection had their usual guards with them at the dinner.
In an interview with CBS' "Early Show" in September, Michaele Salahi said, "President Obama has made it very accessible for anyone to visit the White House, so that's like a big thing right now."

Abby Johnson quit her job. That simple act has become a national news story because Johnson, 29, was the director of a Planned Parenthood clinic in Texas who said she experienced a "change of heart" while participating in an abortion procedure.
"I had never seen an abortion happen on an ultrasound," she said. "My job during the procedure was to hold the probe on the woman's abdomen. I could see the whole profile of the baby 13 weeks head to foot. I could see the whole side profile. I could see the probe. I could see the baby try to move away from the probe."

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 56% now oppose the plan.
Half the survey was conducted before the Senate voted late Saturday to begin debate on its version of the legislation. Support for the plan was slightly lower in the half of the survey conducted after the Senate vote.
Only 16% now believe passage of the plan will lead to lower health care costs. Nearly four times as many (60%) believe the plan will increase health care costs. Most (54%) also believe passage of the plan will hurt the quality of care.

You might ask where are 400 guests going to sit down and eat dinner in the White House. They aren't. A huge tent graces the White House's south lawn for tonight's event honoring the Prime Minister of India. White House Social Secretary Desiree Rogers has choreographed the whole thing.
The max for a state dinner inside the walls of the White House has been 140 but just the Indian delegation and top U.S. officials and their spouses would have totaled at least a half of that number.
But not too worry. The big tent on the south lawn will be not disappoint. "This will be as glamorous as anything inside the White House will be. This will be the most magnificent tent that you have ever been in your entire life," says a press aide to Secretary of State Clinton's tells Politics Daily columnist Lynn Sweet.

Something horrible happened to Bill Sparkman, who worked part-time as a Census worker in rural southeastern Kentucky.
He was found dead. Tied to a tree. Preliminary tests show he died of asphyxiation.
A speculative rumor spread by the Associated Press that Sparkman may have been targeted because of his Census job — coupled with an unsubstantiated claim that “fed” was “scrawled” on his chest — was enough “evidence” for the nutroots to convict every outspoken conservative activist and advocate for limited government of a murder that has yet to be determined a murder.
Democratic Underground immediately posted a “Handy Guide to how Republicans and Fox News are responsible for Census worker being hanged,” where a DU user fumed:

A U.S. Census worker found dead in a secluded Clay County cemetery killed himself but tried to make the death look like a homicide, authorities have concluded.
Bill Sparkman, 51, of London, might have tried to cover the manner of his death to preserve payments under two life-insurance polices that he had taken out. The policies wouldn't pay off if Sparkman committed suicide, state police Capt. Lisa Rudzinski said.
"We believe it was an intentional act on his part to take his own life," said Rudzinski, who helped lead the investigation.

Forty-two percent (42%) Strongly Disapprove giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -15. This is the lowest Approval Index rating yet measured for President Obama.

Obama on Monday mistakenly left a White House ceremony honoring two activists' work in Zimbabwe. After finishing his remarks in the East Room, he walked with first lady Michelle Obama into the grand hallway across the main floor of the Executive Mansion.
He returned a moment later, a bit sheepishly.
He said with a laugh, "I'm allowed to stay." Then he added, "I never know what I'm allowed to do."
Obama left when he had finished presenting the Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights Award. His war council met a short time later to discuss options for Afghanistan and Pakistan.

Lord Monckton says GW believers should be arrested for fraud.
Lord Monckton, who challenged Al Gore on man-made climate change and was rebuffed by a gaggle of peevish Democrats, wants the climate “scientists” caught red-handed fiddling with climate stats prosecuted.
“They are not merely bad scientists — they are crooks. And crooks who have perpetrated their crimes at the expense of British and U.S. taxpayers,” writes Monckton. “With Professor Fred Singer, who founded the U.S. Satellite Weather Service, I have reported them to the UK’s Information Commissioner, with a request that he investigate their offenses and, if thought fit, prosecute.”
The “arrogant fraudsters,” Monckton continues, “have refused, for years and years and years, to reveal their data and their computer program listings. Now we know why: As a revealing 15,000-line document from the computer division at the Climate Research Unit shows, the programs and data are a hopeless, tangled mess. In effect, the global temperature trends have simply been made up.”
