#whalewars #whaling #animalrights Spoiler article for Whale Wars Season 3
Arrested at sea, taken to Tokyo in handcuffs and now facing a possible 15-year jail sentence for trying to stop Japan's annual whale cull, Peter Bethune has become a controversial hero of the environmental movement. But in Japan, where he is on trial for boarding a whaling ship and assaulting a crew member, he is despised and harangued by nationalists, who call him an eco-terrorist.
Mr Bethune is accused of throwing an acid similar to rancid butter, and injuring a member of the crew of the Shonan Maru No 2 that collided with his powerboat a month earlier during clashes in the Antarctic Ocean. The New Zealander's trial is the first in Japan against a member of the Sea Shepherd Conservationist Society, a direct action group founded more than 30 years ago in the US, and has attracted huge media attention.
The militant activist has admitted charges including trespassing and disruption of commerce but denies assaulting a crew member of the Shonan Maru No 2 with a bottle of butyric acid.
Last week the whaler testified that he needed a week of medical treatment after the substance splashed him on the face. Bethune accepts he threw it, but said it could not have harmed the whalers. The prosecution showed a damaging video shot by the whalers that appeared to show him whooping with delight after throwing the acid, which is said to be a type of stink bomb.
Prosecutors accuse Mr Bethune of conspiring with other Sea Shepherd members, including leader Paul Watson, to "sabotage Japanese whaling in the Antarctic".
Mr Bethune is expected to be found guilty of the assault charge despite weeping in court last week and saying he had no intention of hurting whalers. Japanese courts boast a conviction rate of more than 99 per cent and if found guilty he faces a maximum of 15 years in prison.
Mr Bethune was captaining the powerboat Ady Gil in January when it was sliced in half by the Shonan Maru No 2 in what Sea Shepherd calls a deliberate attack. He climbed aboard the Japanese vessel the following month, intending, he says, to arrest its captain for attempted murder and bill him for the sinking of his ship, but was himself arrested and taken back to Tokyo for trial.
By labelling its hunting "scientific research", Japan has often killed more than 1,000 whales a year. In 2008, Japan's fishing fleet came back with only just above half of its target number, in part because animal rights activists, including Sea Shepherd and Greenpeace, targeted the whaling voyage.
Japan and its pro-whaling allies are preparing what has been called a compromise deal for this month's annual International Whaling Conference in Morocco, which could finally allow a return of limited commercial whaling, in return for reduced catches and more monitoring, the first since the 1986 moratorium. Opponents say there is no guarantee that quotas would be respected.

While eating Kentucky Fried Chicken, I will be watching the start of season 3 of Whale Wars.
First, when you see the whales going up the ramp or being cut up, you mourn their death.
But the rest of the time, the arrogance of Paul Watson and his fellow eco-terrorists has me rooting for the Japanese. Every day, Watson endangers his eco-terrorist crew.
The sinking of the Ady Gill is a perfect example of how Watson endangers his volunteers. Look at the maneuverability of the Ady Gil vs. the Shonan Maru and tell me how it was the Shonan Maru’s fault.
Rather than endangering his eco-terrorist crew each year, why doesn’t Watson get the “research” whaling banned also then he truly would have the law on his side?

You're an idiot. You're probably some fag whose mommy supports them. You sit there on your stupid insignificant blog site criticizing the only people who are actually willing to do something about the senseless brutality going on in the southern ocean. The killing of whales is unnecessary and they play a vital role in the oceans. As Captain Paul Watson says, "If the oceans die, we die." People forget that basic concept in their lust for money. What the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society is doing is a service to the ocean. By serving and protecting the oceans, they are serving and protecting all life on Earth as well and that includes you. So why don't you shut your mouth since no good is coming from what you're saying and go onto the donation page of the Sea Shepherd website https://my.seashepherd.org/NetCommunity/SSLPage.aspx?pid=184 and ask mommy if you can borrow some money to donate. Don't be such an obnoxious asshole. It's people like you who kill whales. You're not even human.
ReplyDeletehmmmm!!! whale meat soooo good!!
DeleteCalling people names really makes your case.
ReplyDeleteInternational law says each country can kill up to hundreds of each whale species each year for “research”. That is the law.
How much effort has Paul Watson spent trying to change that law?
No, he sends his volunteers in small boats where one mishap and it can be deadly. In the first episode of season 3, one of the biggest part was “Were those on the Delta boat dead?”.
I don't really care about making a case to people like you. There is no changing the minds of shit heads. I suppose I was just venting...so I can say whatever I want. Eat shit and die.
ReplyDeleteWhat are you and Paul Watson going to do when the IWC changes the law?
ReplyDeleteThe new law being considered will NOT end “research” whaling. It will open up commercial whaling again.
It would mean that Paul Watson and his eco-terrorists would be breaking the law trying to stop the whaling.
I don't think it will come to that but if it did, then he'd probably break the law. This is my last response. I'm not gonna sit on your blog all day and rant like you do. Say hi to your mom for me.
ReplyDeleteHello
ReplyDeleteI am very sorry for my 13 year old daughter's nasty post here. I just checked her computer and saw them. She says terrible things about people's mothers because her own is unknown to her. She is clearly full of hate and I am force feeding her Midol. Sorry. Mr. Anonymous, her dad.
Truth Teller - I am not going to get personal - yes the law is the law - but if they bend the rules to make millions from every whale that they kille by selling the meat. Imagine what they will do if they are givin free rain? They will kill every and all whales with no effort. They will take the money when all whales are gone and tell everyone - "they love you long time". Then you will need to change your nick to Truth Kills and the planets children will slander you for your oppinion when it could have made a small change. You have a right to think what you want - but ripping off the world in the name of commercial law. - That really shows how stupid your oppinion was.
ReplyDeleteWhen you read stories on the IWC allowing commercial whaling, you find Greenpeace ads to petition Obama and the IWC to not allow commercial whaling.
ReplyDeleteWhen you watch Whale Wars Season 3, I don’t expect you will see or hear Paul Watson to talking about the proposed new laws or changing the laws to ban “research” whaling.
Go to “get involved” section of the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society web site. I couldn't find one word about stopping the proposed laws or getting “research” whaling banned. Most of the “get involved” section of the Sea Shepherd is aimed at getting more money for themselves.
With the popularity of Whale Wars, Paul Watson and Animal Planet could have a successful petition drive to convince the IWC to NOT allow commercial whaling again.
Law or not... The Sea Shepards are doing what many of us should be doing. Standing up for what they believe in. Japan claims it is killing these whales every year for reseach purposes... yet after years of this claim, there is NOT one piece of research data that supports this claim. Absolutely nothing other then a profit comes from these yearly actions. This is just a ploy by japan to continue commercial whaling. Now given there should be better ways of going about stopping them... laws should be changed. But until that happens people like sea shepards will be around doing what they can to make a difference.
ReplyDeleteAnd as for the quotas... endangered is endangered. There should be 0 tolerance on killing of endangered species and governments should be involved in stopping them.
Truth teller
ReplyDeleteI understand what you are saying but if you watch whale wars from season 1 you know that Paul was with greenpeace which was all talk and no action....And when he began to slowly get more involved in saving the whale (which will no doubt be extinct because of greed for money)he was voted off his own founded group
So from my point of view he is just FED UP of going through the channels you are suggesting
Sea Shepherd have chosen this cause of action because there are so many activists going through lawful channels and are getting no where to stopping the extinction of whale but only slowing it down
I commented on this because you seem to be a wise person and doesnt need obscene language to voice your opinion
I am only 16 so if have strayed off topic or am wrong in anyway i would like to be corrected, after all respectful criticism should not be greeted with ignorance but adsorbed as part of knowledge
I can understand the frustration of Paul Watson and going through legal channels.
ReplyDeleteFirst, he could do his harassment of the Japanese without constantly putting his volunteers in danger.
Secondly with the popularity of Whale Wars, Watson and Animal Planet could create a very influential petition drive of Obama, the US Congress and the IWC to not only stop commercial whaling being allowed again but stop the lethal “research” whaling.
And if the law changes, Paul Watson and the Sea Shepherd society could all be arrested if they interfered with the now completely legal whaling and it might be that their ships would be seized.
If the law changes and Paull Watson is in jail, will someone replace him?
If the law does change, what is being considered would ba a reasonable compromise to the over a 1000 whales a season the Japanese are slaughtering. Hopefully not more than a few hundred. We allow the Alaskan natives to kill a a small number for cultural reasons... I have read that the amount taken by native Alaskans is no more than 10 a yr... This is reasonable...Whale populations should be managed and highly regulated. They are an endagered species. In the U.S. when a species is endagered it is absolutley illegal to hunt and kill them. If taking a few hundred a year is going to make the Japanese happy with their cultural tastes then regulate the heck out of it, Instead of allowing them to operate within a loop whole as poachers. They should be able to be boarded at any time and inspected the same as our coast gured does to our local fishermen. If the Japanese are still harrassed by the Paul Watsons of the world, then legal action would be appropriate in my best estimate.
ReplyDeleteI think a bigger question might be, will the japanese be allowed to do this possible commercial whaleing in the same place they are doing "scientific research". I mean typically we dont go to nature researves and hunt, now do we.
ReplyDeleteKill the damn whales and be done with it. They serve no purpose other than to eat plankton. All this we are all conected shit is bs. Paul watson is an asshole who wasn't hugged enuff by his fagot daddy. He does nothing to stop whaling. He is just a violent person looking to cause trouble. Thats it an all there is. You want to save the whales. You change the laws then enforce them. Not terrorize people who are just trying to make a living.
ReplyDeleteI don't know how any human being can watch these beautiful creatures get slaughtered for nothing but money and think it's ok. The world is dying enough as it is, just leave the damn animals alone. People are so selfish.
ReplyDeleteI hate to burst all the anti whalers bubble but all this Sea Sheperd jazz is so Paul Watson doesn't have to get a real job. He can run around the southern oceans accomplishing nothing other than making cheap tv and get all of you 'outraged' whale huggers to send your rent money to him.
ReplyDeleteBTW, there are no unicorns and there is no pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. Sorry but it is time to grow up and realize that your he3ro isw nothing more than a self centered buffoon that is exploiting your lack of understanding of how nature really works.
First of all, Paul Watson has been trying to get the 'research law' changed for a very long time, but the government isn't being very responsive.
ReplyDeleteAnd, Paul Watson does NOT endanger his crew. They 'endanger' themselves for the sake of the whales. He warns everyone before they board his ships not to join if they aren't willing to risk their lives for whales. They are courageous men and women and he doesn't force them to do anything. They choose it!
Keep it up, Sea Shepherd!!!
I believe that Japan should use its Navy toprotect there intrests in the southern ocean and form 2 more artifical reefs in the southern ocean, the Steve Irwin and the Bob Barker. Two well placed torpedos would do the trick.
ReplyDeleteI think it's ironic that conservatives ally themselves with protectionist measures when it suits an economic agenda... ie, the Japanese Navy should sink the Sea Shepherds.
ReplyDeleteThat being said, Paul Watson is quite dangerous to his vessels and crew, not to mention the whalers they are trying to stop. Why is it they only try to use prop foulers just once or twice in a campaign?
Because he sets a double standard (violence towards whales = bad, violence toward whalers = okay) Paul Watson gives a bad name to vegans, conservationists, and animal rights advocates.
Of course what they are doing is atrocious and must be stopped, but education holds the answers, not violence! Martin Luther King, Mahatma Gandhi, they changed the world permanently with what they did. Violence is NOT the answer!
Although saving whales is a noble idea, the manner in which Paul Watson goes about it is abhorrent. The behavior of he and his ragtag group is barely any different than that of crazy radical Islamic terrorist groups like Al Qaida. Both groups take the approach that the “ends justify the means” and place little or no value on truth or honesty. Although it can be expected of groups like Al Qaida, the blatant disregard for the rule of law by the Sea Shepherds should not be tolerated. What separates the Sea Shepherds from Somali pirates attacking ships off the Horn of Africa? Although the Sea Shepherds do not (at least not yet) hold a ship for ransom, both they and the Somalis are pirating for a “cause”. The world as a whole cannot allow any non-governmental group to make up their own rules and employ violence for ANY cause. The action of groups like the Sea Shepherds is a bad example for others. The path that the Sea Shepherds is following will inevitably lead to greater conflicts instead of peace. If the world in general behaves like crazy Paul Watson, then all life, including human life, will be at risk. Animal Planet should pull this program off the air. The revenue that the program generates only provides funding to promote violence instead of peace. People like Paul Watson are conflict junkies. If all whaling was stopped immediately, he would find another “cause” to attack with his primeval violence. I wish that his supporters would realize how dangerous this man and his tactics are.
ReplyDeleteFour well placed torpedoes would stop the whaling once and for all. Do it.
ReplyDeleteid love to see those jap loop hole, whale killing mother fuckers sink...all in the name of research lol....ask them when their swimming for their lives if they learned anything from their reseasrch....
ReplyDeletehowever it is sad that the governments will allow this poaching to happen
maybe we should kill a few thousand japanese fisherman ...all in the name of research of course
ReplyDeletePaul, and the boys don't need the ADY Gil II. They need a submarine, talk about your Stealth. You would be amazed what they could do with that. :] Sense we are talking about millions of dollars anyway. Ask Bob Barker, he gave them 5 million, to save the Whales. That's what it's all about anyway.
ReplyDeleteThe ultimate poetic justice would be for a large whaling vessel to smash into a sea shepherd, killing the neck-bearded vegans on board. Their ultimate sacrifice will be to provide nutrients to a pod of passing whales who will, in turn, be harpooned and painfully slaughtered and packaged for market. A rich Japanese businessman, descended from a long line of clean shave professional-types, will purchase a delicious cut of whale steak and devour it, by which he also devours the essence of the sea shepherd crew. A day and a half later that same man feels the need to vacate his bowls. After a long satisfying shit, the man looks into the toilet bowl and finds himself staring directly into the face of paul watson. Its the circle of life... speaking of life, try getting one you parent-hating, dread-locked abortion survivors.
ReplyDeletefell apon this blog by accident why dont you people get a life you all need to be at work doing something usefull with yourselves instead of sitting around smoking weed frying your brain cells talking about someone elses problems let god take care of it only god can judge he will act on justice for all people even you pot heads that sit around wacking off to things like whale wars think about all the millions of people you kill every time you flush your jizzum down the toilet so have a nice day and be prepared to face your god soon because he will return and justice will be served like a hot plate off apple pie enjoy!!!
ReplyDeleteI like how we have the freedom of speech from emotion and personal belief on the internet. all opposing and each one claiming the right one. Sort of like wars that have "God" on each side. When we became forced to be a State we learned about the double standard and arrogant beliefs of so called protectors and saviors our indigenous people are being removed from the planet faster than the whales. We have been affected by whaling for centuries, but forget about the people and focus on whales. Hmmmmmmmm
ReplyDeleteoh, by the way, I'm a different Anonymous and not the earlier one
ReplyDeleteif there were to be any real whale wars between groups with the kind of weapons to sink ships and kill people the real victims are always the wildlife. You have no idea how many jungle animals were killed in vietnam. You have no idea of how many whales will be killed. In real war the wildlife is collateral damage and sometimes it becomes important to kill the wildlife in war. So before you fire torpedoes or missiles think very carefully first.
ReplyDeleteI was doing some researh and fell upon this site by accident and read all the comments here...some good ones, some not so nice. I would like to say here that I am an animal lover and whales hold a very special place in my heart. I don't know what it is with some of you picking on Paul Watson? He is JUST TRYING to HELP. If you want to blame somebody blame the government! They are the ones behind the scene killing this world!!! If you don't like the way Paul does it then do it your self! I am just glad that there are people out there that are at least doing something. Don't forget the oil spill in the gulf killing all the sea life too. Right now we NEED the Sea Shepherds. I dont know how many of you have kids but if you do and if you care about them then you have to care about their future. A life without whales, a life without animals is a not a life at all, in fact it would be awfully boring. The world will NOT go on without them, we will not go on without them. So think about it...Everything is connected, everything. We cut one thread and the WHOLE world will UNRAVEL! You dont have to be like Paul Watson but you can help. Dont purchase whale meat (or any endangered animal meat), buy dawn and acctivate it to give a dollar to help the animals in the oil spill, DONT dump garbage into the waters (or anywhere) etc. Every little bit counts. And again the crew of the sea shepherds are VOLUNTEERING which means they are not being made to do the things they are doing, they are doing it cuz THEY WANT TO.
ReplyDeleteLets do our children (future children) a favour...
Start listening, start doing and start CARING.
Bring the Japanese Whalers Down!!!!!!
to the japanese "research" whaling fleet, i feel your pain, we did use hiroshima and nagasaki for "research" back in '45..... how do you say hydrogen in japanese???????
ReplyDeleteIt wasn't right what 'we' did to the people of japan back then, even though they wanted to take over everything I believe there were other ways to solve it. I feel really bad for the children back then. Children and animals are the most innocent and precious things on this planet. That is why we need to protect them ALL. We ONLY have one world we can survive on. We need to open our eyes and take a GOOD look around and say "what the hell are we doing?" We as humans are the only ones that can protect those that do not have a voice, we as humans need to make a stand for those who cannot help themselves. We as humans are SUPPOSE to CARE.
ReplyDeleteI did a research paper on the rainforests and learned (from ststistics) that 17 species of animals and plants go EXTINCT every day?! Thats discusting!
Don't forget animals were here LONG BEFORE us. They have more of a right to be here then we do.
We spend so much time blaming and picking sides that we let God's perfect creations (animals) slip trough our fingers. they are equal to us, so lets start treating them equally.
Who do you think finds and saves people from avalanhes? dogs. Who do you think helps polinate flowers/tress/plants? Birds, insects, squirrels. Who gives us milk? Cows. Who saved a little girl from the tsunami in Shri Lanka? a baby elephant. Animals help some people with their daily chores, they protect us, love us unconditionally and they teach us to love. Lets do the same for them.
Here is a bio of Paul Watson. He has been an activist since he was 9 years old. He also helped to found Green Peace.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.seashepherd.org/who-we-are/captain-watsons-biography.html
Fuck u guys. the sea sheperds are trying to help stop killing the whales. the japenese should have enough whales by now if thier only taking samples. but no, thier taking the whales to sell for money. japenese are just grredy ass holes.they need to stop whalling, because many species of whales are going extinct. if they keep up whaling at the same rate, all whales could be extinct in a few years. some species are going extinct as we speak. I think there should be a real war on stoping whaling. it shouldnt be thesae sisys just launching stinkbombes. it should be machine guns, bombs, fighter jets. we should stop the killing of whales once and for all. the sea sheperds are only starting this. and i agree that the captain of the Shonan Maru No 2 should be arrested. he could have easily murdered 6 people in that collision, and he sank a boat that someone gave away everything they had to build. he even sold his house, and they just sank. the japenese have no respect for human OR animal life at all. they should be stoped. by killing whales, they will eventually kill the entire ocean, when the ocean is dead, EVERYTHING dies. the japenese are murdering the entire planet.
ReplyDeletei think we need to all go to our contries leaders and ask them to take action.BIG action. the japenese must be stoped. anyone who thinks its ok to kill whales is shellfish. i bet anyone here that suports the whaling is japenese, including the person who made this blog
ReplyDeleteMake my latte you hippy morons and leave the thinking for the grown ups. The sheer incompetence of these ecoslimeballs shows why they can't make more than minimum wage slinging coffee or delivering my pouch mail.
ReplyDeleteJust a point that seems to keep appearing, people say the Ady Gil boat could have got out of the way because the Shonan Maru 2 was a large ship and couldn't turn quickly, we are talking about a harpoon ship here. It would be bloody useless as a harpoon ship if it couldn't turn fast, it chase whales for goodness sake and whales turn sharply.
ReplyDeleteFrom the bridge of the Shonan Maru , could they see where the Ady Gil was? Or did the bow of the Shonan Maru block their view?
ReplyDeleteMany people think killing whales is a sin, while whole lot more people against killing humans. So, why we are not discussing how to prevent or stop the wars that's killing many more humans everyday??
ReplyDeleteBy the way, in this case, the fast moving boat blocked the right of way intentionally is obvious. I saw the clip last night and Ady Gill was asking for trouble and shall be punished to keep the world order.
Do something that will make a difference and make the conservatives and liberals happy here -- don't buy Japanese products.
ReplyDeleteWhere can you buy whale meet in America?
ReplyDeletei believe that whaling should be stoped. im no hippie or tree hugger or anything like that i hunt all sort of aniamals but whats happening to them whales are unspeakable. i think paul watson should have more rights to do what he does. the japenese are lucky im not on the seashephard. i would take my own boat out there just to help paul watson. and for all u people who think that paul watson is putting them people lifes at risk well he dont they volunteer they are willing to except the risk on there on cause dont blame paul watson.
ReplyDeletePersonally I can't wait until the countries that allow the Steve Irwin to be documented should pull that documentation. Making it a stateless vessel and therefore officially classified as a pirate ship and the crew treated accordingly since as previous poster said they are volunteers and know what they are doing is legally wrong. Then laugh as they all spend 15 years in Japanese prison
ReplyDeletefuck all u peolple that think seashepard is doing wrong ok. fuck the japenense they can live without killing whales.
ReplyDeleteWhat a bunch of inept fools!!!
ReplyDeleteFirst, they park the Ady Gil in front of the trailing harpoon ship to get it to turn. Then when the waves push the bow of the harpoon ship in the direction of the Ady Gil, Bethune doesn’t have the sense to throw it into reverse and get out of the way.
Then you have this latest episode. The Bob Barker is using twice as much oil as predicted and they don’t figure that out until they are nearly out of oil.
The Irwin’s helicopter is broken. They nearly sink two of their little boats. They ruin the engine of one of the boats and the engines of the other were full of water.
well I watched it and I must say that you are an ass clown if you actually think the andy was responsible for that collision. Video clearly showed the Japanese turning hard into her...
ReplyDeleteI have been on a boat in rough water that was rocking side to side like the harpoon ship. The front end also kept being shoved back and forth so driving a straight line was difficult.
ReplyDeleteAnd I didn't see the Ady Gil make any attempt to get out of the way.
When the first time the Ady Gil went up against the harpoon ship with the prop fouler, wasn't there video inside the ady gil?
ReplyDeleteIf so, why wasn't there inside footage of the crash? It would have been very dramatic footage?
the ady gil had to wait to get fuil we all know this so they were a stranded boat. the Japaneses can move just as well as the adi so why didnt they? you can look at both footage's and see the ady was not running so how could you expect them to move when it takes time to start up an engine. ill agree the paul watson is a fag and does shit to the japs that he shouldnt but what the japaneses are doing is is even more wrong. try to kill a bald eagle or anything else thats endangered and sell it and you'll end up in jail so why isnt anything happening to the japs. they dont need 1000 or even 100 whales to feed their billions of people there are other sources of food. i just want whales to not be killed and paul watsons faggot ass off my tv
ReplyDeleteWatch this YouTube version:
ReplyDeletehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xLdUISE3e8c
Did any one see a video pf the crew as the ship was coming closer?
When they were deciding to let the Ady Gil sink, didn't they make a big deal out of pumping any left over fuel?
ReplyDeleteLmao, I wonder how much of Paul Watson's salary is going towards his worthless cause. I personally think it would be hilarious to see the last season show with each sea shepherd crew member tied and being pulled up the slip of the factory ship. For research of course. Lol!
ReplyDeleteWELL MAYBE YOU ALL DON'T KNOW!!!! BUT ALL THEM CREW MEMBERS OF SEA SHEPHERD SOCIETY DO NOT AND I REPEAT..... DO NOT GET PAID FOR DOING ANY OF THIS AT ALL!!!!! THEY GET DONATIONS FROM MANY CITIES IN THE U.S. AND OTHER COUNTRIES THAT ARE AGAINST KILLING WHALES.... THEIR CAMPAIGN IS ALL VOLUNTEER WORK!!!! ALL THEM MEMBERS HAVE TO GET THEIR OWN MONEY OUT OF THEIR POCKETS TO BUY A PASSPORT FOR ONE, A TICKET FROM WHEREVER THEY ARE COMING FROM TO GO TO AUSTRALIA AND MEET WITH PAUL WATSON AND HIS CREW. THEY SPENT ATLEAST 800 TO 1,000 DOLLARS TO BE PART OF THE CAMPAIGN!!!! SO TRUTH TELLER, SUCK ON THAT.... BECAUSE SOONER OR LATER, JAPANESE WHALING WILL BE BANNED!!!!! AND IF THEY END UP GOING TO ANTARTICA TRYING TO KILL WHALES, THEY ARE GONNA END UP MEETING WITH DIFFERENT MILITARIES THAT ARE GOING TO BE FORCING THE LAW OF BANNING WHALING!!!!! I JUST CAME FROM JAPAN AFTER BEING A LONG VACATION THERE JUST TO SEE HOW WAS LIFE IN JAPAN!!!! I WAS THERE FOR 2 YEARS AND THE TRUTH IS!!!!!!!!!! THAT JAPANESE ARE NOT KILLING WHALES FOR RESEARCH!!!!! THEY HAVE A LAW THAT KILLING WHALES PART OF PUTTING WHALE MEAT FOR SALE!!!!!! THE PRICE OF WHALE MEAT IN SUPERMARKETS IN JAPAN WHICH REALLY PISSED ME OFF THE MOST WHEN I SAW THAT THEY WERE SELLING IT BY THE POUND!!!! THE PRICE IS BETWEEN 12 TO 15 AMERICAN DOLLARS PER POUND OF WHALE MEAT!!!! WHICH IS BETWEEN 1034.8800 YEN AND 1293.6000 YEN WHICH IS JAPANESE MONEY!!!! AND IF YOU DO NOT BELIEVE ME, GO TO JAPAN YOURSELF AND CHECK IT OUT!!!!
ReplyDeleteAND IF THE JAPANESE GOVERNMENT ARE TRYING TO WORK OUT THINGS WITH THE U.S. GOVERNMENT, THAN WHY IN THE WORLD THEY DECIDED TO STOP RECIEVING BEEF FROM THE U.S. MEAT FACTORIES???? THINK ABOUT THAT AS WELL!!!!
ReplyDeleteThe Sea sheppards have no right to do what they are doing. Eating whale meat is a tradition in Japan. I enjoyed eating whale. Also, the only whale hunted that is endangered is the Fin whale. The humpback and minke are in the NC category. Whats the difference between hunting whale and hunting deer? Nothing. Food chain, we're on top. I'm against Sea Sheppard and I'm all for regulating whaling. Everytime I watch a whale go up that ramp to be butchered, I think to myself how much I miss eating whale in Japan. I don't moarn, it's the circle of life. It's food. And, the Sea Sheppards claim that they helped save 520 whales this season. How? It's episode 10 of 13 and I've yet to sea them save one whale. More like waste money from those who donate. Haha. Stupid terrorists.
ReplyDeleteTo the person claiming that non of the Sea Sheppards get paid, you need to do your research. They were all on Larry King live and there are many full time employees getting paid by donations that work for Sea Sheppard. Larry King asked them straight up and many of them said yes they get paid as a full time employee.
ReplyDeleteHey, this is dircted to the person who thinks they are telling us something we don't know. We already know that they sell the left over whale meat in Japan. That would be irresponsible to just throw it away. No military action will ever happen in the Antarctic region. If the world was so concerned about Japanese whaling the UN would get involved. There is nothing wrong with Japanese whaling, your being brain washed by Paul Watson.
ReplyDelete"AND IF THE JAPANESE GOVERNMENT ARE TRYING TO WORK OUT THINGS WITH THE U.S. GOVERNMENT, THAN WHY IN THE WORLD THEY DECIDED TO STOP RECIEVING BEEF FROM THE U.S. MEAT FACTORIES???? THINK ABOUT THAT AS WELL!!!!"
ReplyDeleteFirst, the Japanese gov and U.S. gov have a fine relationship. There is no need to "work things out" between the two. And Japanese beef is far better than American raised beef. I'm not Japanese. So, don't try and say that the only reason I say such things is that I'm Japanese.
FYI, minke whales are not endangered, boasting a population of 400K to 700K, depending on who you ask. Being part eskimo, I can tell you that they taste really, really good, too. For that matter, bowheads and belugas taste good, too.
ReplyDeleteI do like to watch Whale Wars because they are sooooo entertaining- a comedy of errors forming a long string over several seasons. One of the funniest was when that school teacher guy starting up a brand new little boat motor, putting the prop right into the rocks and trashing it in about 45 seconds. For such a 'smart' guy, he sure lacked some basic common sense, but boy was he funny! Oh, and I don't think he helped to save any whales, since he made the little fast boat useless for the rest of the season. LOL.
Im sorry but I watch whale wars and after attending many conservation conferences for sea life I have came to one conclusion. The japanese are not doing research, they are out to make money and they come up with a new excuse every year as to why they need to do the whaling, dolphin killing, etc. One year its research, the next its to control population cause they are eating to many fish. They are full of crap, they sell the dolphin meat as whale meat and poison their very one people. Just that meat alone is like 98 percent above their so called standard levels of mercury. That right there says to me that they could care less about preservation and their own people when it comes to money.
ReplyDeleteYes Paul Watson is a media hog but what he is doing is for there greater good. I hope they come back with even more supporters next year. Some one has to do something and maybe what they are doing is the only way of doing it. I think the show is the best thing for them. Sometimes it is a little over dramatic but what TV show isn't? I say if it gets them more support go for it!
ReplyDeleteI am an adult, therefore, i will speak and act like an adult. I am a disabled mother of a 9 yr old daughter. We watch Whale Wars as a family. I think Paul Watson, and every single member of his crew on 2 VESSELS(WAS 3) are heros. Every single crew member was asked if they were willing to risk their lives for something they believe in. They ALL had a choice. And, Pete Bethune is my new hero. Anyone of you, whether you are for or against, would be sick to your stomach if someone clearly rammed your vessel, intentinally, risking lives, and causing the sinking of a 3 million dollar vessel, that you built yourself, with your own money. It is obvious to anyone with their head firmly on their shoulders, that the Japanese are illegally killing the whales! They are trying too hard to get people to "believe" they are doing research. I believe it does not take "1000" whales in a 3month or so period of time to gather needed research. Come on people. I normally do not post on blogs like this because there is no reason to argue, call names, and bicker over this. Those men & women take time out of their daily lives( Chad is a teacher) to VOLUNTEER their time. And, from what I understand, I have not seen anything illegal in Japan, unless, someone is trying to make them do right by our planet. They seem to be able to work around international laws; they ARE in international waters doing this. Whales are not the only thing the Japanese viciously kill. There is a difference in killing for consumption in a proper order to replenish what has been taken. They take and kill without trying to replenish what they take. If I wasn't disabled, I WOULD VOLUNTEER on the sea shepard! Anyday! I am only 38 yrs old, so I am not some granny ( no offense meant) sitting here wishing if I were younger, ect. This will be my last time on this blog. But, I felt like someone with any sense, would read, and understand my OPINION. I didn't say anyone had to agree with me. Don't really care if you don't, because anyone with true understanding, that yes, paperwork and rallying does help, but it does not stop or slow down the killing that is going on while these people are cutting thier way thru read tape. They are like rats in a maze, eventually they WILL get to the cheese, it just takes TIME! Something the whales do not have as long as the Japanese are at sea. I think it is a worthy cause. And, as long as the Sea Shepards slow down the INHUMANE killings it will eventually stop. The Japanese are not going to keep whaling without making their money. All of it, because with Japan, all they seem to care about is money. They hold no reguard for our wildlife, sealife, much less a human life!
ReplyDeleteThe Japanese are liars, not good ones though. They say they are doing research. For what? To find a better way to track and kill them? At the rate they kill whales there won't be any whales left for any reasearch to be worth anything. The U.N. or who ever is supposed to enforce these laws are useless and impotent. With the size of the worlds oceans why do the Japs hunt in a whale santuary? I understand the Japs are a fishing culture but what are they going to do when there are no more whales for them to eat? A smart hunter never depletes his supply of game, that's what they are doing. I believe whales and dolphins or anything closely related shouldn't be hunted, there are plenty of other things in the oceans to eat or do "research on." The final point is this: humans are arrogant, selfish and greedy by nature as a whole. We will fight over oil and "human rights" on a large scale but not for the right of other species to exist. I'm not saying we shouldn't eat meat, hell I love a good steak but we are using up the Earth's resources and destoying the environment, without those, WE DIE.
ReplyDeleteAbout the only reasearch that has been posted by the Japs is that whale blubber is getting thinner on the whales than it was decades ago. Heck, we only need to kill 1 whale to measure that. Not thousands over a period of a few years.
ReplyDeleteAnother interesting FACT is that Pete Bethune was charged with interfering with Japanese COMMERCE...not Japanese RESEARCH. This tells you that because of these very specofic charges, that the Japs are not doing genuine research, but are killing whales for money, which is what Pete was actually charged with. It's a double edged sword for the Japs because they want to claim they are doing research, yet when push comes to shove and they have Pete in custody, suddenly they are doing Commerce, and not Research. So...which is it Japan?
Since the Japs charged Pete with interfering with commerce...they are also admitting that they are not doing reasearch. Any good court would recognize this and have to suspend Pete's sentence. Oh wait...they did!
That's right...and killing whales for commerce violates the international ban on whaling. You can only kill them for reasearch according to international law. The Japs are shooting themselves in the foot by these trumped up charges.
ReplyDeletewho gives a shit about the law? drop nukes all day on japs, for scientific research of course. It's been too long since we've studied the effects on humans when put directly in range of nuclear warheads. I for one find it interesting that shadows remain when the physical body has evaporated. death to japan.
ReplyDelete---to paul--- It will be in my wishes tonight that someone enters your home while you sleep, rob and beat you to death while you beg for mercy (while video taping it so the world can indulge in). Then as an added insult throw your putrid remains in the ocean so it can be eaten by the oceans' necessary creatures.

ReplyDeleteIn their capacity to suffer animals are our equal.
ReplyDelete"Animals are not ours to eat, wear, experiment on, or use for entertainment."
The end does not justify the means. Paul Watson and his band of Eco Terrorists/Pirates are breaking the law and endangering human lives.
ReplyDeletetell me honestly why do you have to kill an animal to research it?
ReplyDeleteUmmm because it doesn't answer questions properly? We, people of a nation, have killed everything to research it including people. That question made me laugh. I think the Japs should board the shepherd fleet, "research" them for brain deformities, and sell the meat to the cannibalistic tribes for a goats hide. I'll betcha Paul would fetch 2 goat hides if sold by the pound. Take the goat hides and distribute them to his cult followers like the ones on here. At least this way Paul would finally be giving something back to his cult members.
ReplyDelete"In their capacity to suffer animals are our equal. Animals are not ours to eat, wear, experiment on, or use for entertainment."..now you tell me...yummy. P.E.T.A. = People Eating Tasty Animals
ReplyDeleteIt is common knowledge that Japs have no soul anyway.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if the Japanese need a hired gun to help with the eco terorists. I am available nothing I would like better than sink one or all of Paul Watsons boats. You animal rights wack jobs need to get a grip on yourselves and mind your own business.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite part of the show is when Pauls boats take it up the @$$, Pauls an absolute loser! Get a clue, There are tens of thousands of actual human children starving all over the world, actual human children being killed by waring factions in Africa, but nah lets focus on sea critters. his society spends millions of dollars to pick on the innocent employees of the whaling companies, yeah they may be the ones who do the deed, but they're far from being the ones pulling the strings, thats like throwing a stink bomb into your local burger joint for cooking up cow. If snaggle tooth Watson wants to make a difference he needs to go to the root of the problem not harass the blue collared workers supporting families. if your too busy taking whale dick up the kisser to give a dam about other human beings whos the real monster?
ReplyDeleteif you look at the footage taken from the shonan maru no. 2 you will notice that the Andy Gil accelerates to get in front of the shonan maru no. 2 because the shonan maru no. 2 is taking evasive action to avoid a collision. Therefor Peter Bethune was criminally negligent in charge of a vessel and purposely endangered the lives of his fellow crew members. sure maritime law states he had right of way, but it also states that captains must operate vessels in a safe manner, and were this to come to court Peter Bethune would lose on the grounds that he deliberately accelerated in to the path of another vessel, there fore causing a collision. this is the same as me, with my kid in a carry seat on the back, purposely accelerating my bicycle in front of a semi-trailer that is going through an unmarked intersection where the give way to the right rule applies. whose the idiot, the semi-trailer driver who didn't give way to the bicycle on his right or me flattened with my kid on the carry seat under the front wheel of the semi.
ReplyDeletei agree to the ban on whaling in the southern ocean, but i firmly believe in safe navigation practices, and from what i've seen on whale wars
the sea shepherd captains should loose their tickets for unsafe navigation practices. they're not heroes they're attention seeking maniacs who should be barred from the open ocean.
