Looking at nuclear is better than asinine wind and solar power.
Expanding our Nation's capacity to generate clean nuclear energy is crucial to our ability to combat climate change, enhance energy security, and increase economic prosperity. My Administration is undertaking substantial steps to expand the safe, secure, and responsible use of nuclear energy. These efforts are critical to accomplishing many of my Administration's most significant goals.
An important part of a sound, comprehensive, and long-term domestic nuclear energy strategy is a well-considered policy for managing used nuclear fuel and other aspects of the back end of the nuclear fuel cycle. Yet the Nation's approach, developed more than 20 years ago, to managing materials derived from nuclear activities, including nuclear fuel and nuclear waste, has not proven effective. Fortunately, over the past two decades scientists and engineers in our country and abroad have learned a great deal about effective strategies for managing nuclear material. My Administration is committed to using this advanced knowledge to meet the Government's obligation to dispose of our Nation's used nuclear material.
Accordingly, I request that you establish a Blue Ribbon Commission on America's Nuclear Future (Commission) and appoint its members. Those members should include recognized representatives and experts from a range of disciplines and with a range of perspectives, and may include participation of appropriate Federal officials. The Commission's business should be conducted in an open and transparent manner.

Wind and Solar are not 24/7. Over their lifetime, they are not that “green”.
Go Nuke power.
Skip the moon. NASA to monitor global warming. Let the Russians take control of space.
Congressman Bill Posey (R-Rockledge) released the following statement in reaction to news reports that the Obama Administration is preparing to eliminate America’s next generation space vehicle to invest in earth sciences:
“Although Congress awaits the President’s official budget request next week, I am deeply concerned over news reports citing Administration officials that the President seems determined to abdicate America’s leadership in human space exploration. Just weeks before the 2008 election, then-Senator Obama came though Central Florida promising the nation and the residents of Brevard County that if elected President, he would close the space gap and keep America first in space. If this news report is even half right, this plan, if you can call it a plan, would be a devastating reversal of that commitment.
“This Administration has thrown hundreds of billions of dollars into a failed stimulus bill, but when it comes to keeping America first in space his ‘plan’ is to cancel the development of America’s next human space vehicle, outsource our good-paying Shuttle jobs to the Russians, rush/force the transition to yet unproven commercial alternatives, and shifts money from human space flight to global warming research.
“Until we have a clearer plan for the future, the only realistic and reasonable way to preserve America’s leadership in space is too provide for a temporary extension of the Shuttle. To terminate the Shuttle later this year with no plan, but rather a vain hope, is ill advised.
“My biggest fear is that this amounts to a slow death of our nation’s human space flight program; a retreat from America’s decades of leadership in space, ending the economic advantages that our space program has brought to the U.S., and ceding space to the Russians, Chinese and others. I will do all that I can to stop this ill-advised plan.

Thanks to Obama the Russians will have control of the space station and outer space.
An atheist group is trying to smear her reputation in order to get the stamp stopped.
An atheist organization is blasting the U.S. Postal Service for its plan to honor Mother Teresa with a commemorative stamp, saying it violates postal regulations against honoring "individuals whose principal achievements are associated with religious undertakings."
The Freedom from Religion Foundation is urging its supporters to boycott the stamp — and also to engage in a letter-writing campaign to spread the word about what it calls the "darker side" of Mother Teresa.
The stamp — set to be released on Aug. 26, which would have been Mother Teresa's 100th birthday — will recognize the 1979 Nobel Peace Prize winner for her humanitarian work, the Postal Service announced last month.

There is no separation of church and state. Since the USPS has issued a muslim EID holiday stamp, the post office is not giving one denomination preference over another.
Stop trying to making atheism our national religion!
Is honor killing now more likely for Rifqa?.
The agreement between Rifqa Bary and her parents to settle their conflict through counseling has ended without a single meeting between the parents and their daughter, according to a motion filed in Franklin County Juvenile Court.
The parents - Mohamed and Aysha Bary - are withdrawing their consent to resolve the case. Rifqa and her parents agreed on Jan. 19 that she would stay in foster care and they would undergo counseling instead of beginning a dependency trial to determine where the 17-year-old should live.
She turns 18 on Aug. 10.
The motion says: "The parents now believe the entire deal should be thrown out because of misrepresentation and fraudulent inducement." It adds that the Barys now object to all decisions made on Jan. 19 and want a trial on the dependency case.

Are the parents changing their minds because they can’t stand the “dishonor’ of their muslim daughter converting to christianity? They are trying to have Rifqa’s laywer removed. Is that because they hope she ends up with a laywer that in not successful? Are they doing what they can to get their hands on her before her 18th birthday?
Jihad not effective against west but maybe global warming will bring down America.
Osama bin Laden, the al-Qaeda leader, has condemned the US and other industrial economies, holding them responsible for the phenomenon of climate change.
In an audio tape obtained by Al Jazeera, bin Laden criticised George Bush, the former US president, for rejecting the Kyoto pact and condemned global corporations.
"This is a message to the whole world about those responsible for climate change and its repercussions - whether intentionally or unintentionally - and about the action we must take," bin Laden said.
"Speaking about climate change is not a matter of intellectual luxury - the phenomenon is an actual fact."
In the new recording, bin Laden says "all the industrial states" are to blame for climate change, "yet the majority of those states have signed the Kyoto Protocol and agreed to curb the emission of harmful gases".
In the new recording, bin Laden said: "Noam Chomsky [the US academic and political commentator] was correct when he compared the US policies to those of the Mafia. They are the true terrorists and therefore we should refrain from dealing in the US dollar and should try to get rid of this currency as early as possible.
"I am certain that such actions will have grave repercussions and huge impact."
While continuing to attack America, bin Laden's comments mark a shift from his earlier, more regionally focused commentary.
In his previous tape, bin Laden warned that there would be further attacks on the US unless Barack Obama, the current US president, took steps to resolve the Palestinian conflict.
The Obama administration dismissed bin Laden's comments on the earlier tape and said intelligence analysts had not confirmed that the voice was that of bin Laden.

In Iraq and Afghanistan, the Islamic extremists kept trying new attacks to defeat the west. For attacks on airlines, they keep trying new attacks.
bin Laden sees Obama, Al Gore and the Socialist Congress of America destroying this country by forcing global warming “fixes” on us so he is jumping on the bogus global warming bandwagon.
NYC complained enough to get WH to reconsider. Now let’s hope Dick “Eddie Haskell” Durbin doesn’t suggest Gitmo North in Illinois as an alternative.
The White House ordered the Justice Department Thursday night to consider other places to try the 9/11 terror suspects after a wave of opposition to holding the trial in lower Manhattan.
The dramatic turnabout came hours after Mayor Bloomberg said he would "prefer that they did it elsewhere" and then spoke to Attorney General Eric Holder.
"It would be an inconvenience at the least, and probably that's too mild a word for people that live in the neighborhood and businesses in the neighborhood," Bloomberg told reporters.
"There are places that would be less expensive for the taxpayers and less disruptive for New York City."
State and city leaders have increasingly railed against a plan to try Khalid Shaikh Mohammed in Manhattan federal court since Holder proposed it last month.
Sen. Chuck Schumer said he was "pleased" that the administration is reconsidering the location of the trial.
Earlier in the day, Schumer spoke "with high-level members of the administration and urged them to find alternatives," said the senator's spokesman, Josh Vlasto.

The terrorist trails should be military tribunals at Gitmo and not Gitmo North in Illinois.
Word is Governors Island has the lead on the alternate spot for the NYC terrorist trials. During trial breaks, the terrorist can check out their next targets.
Those using the baseball fields are told to bring their own water. The only food on the island is during the summer from hotdog carts that must come by ferry daily.
Obama escapes the Oval Office and travels 850 miles for a speech he could have given in the White House.
The investments we announce today make rail a viable transportation alternative in many regions. With this historic $8 billion investment by President Obama, we are jump-starting American High-Speed rail.
The bulk of today's awards go to new, large-scale high-speed rail programs--projects such as Florida, with $1.25 billion to develop a high-speed rail corridor between Tampa and Orlando with trains running up to 168 miles per hour--and California, with $2.25 billion to connect Los Angeles to San Francisco and points in between with trains running up to 220 miles per hour.
In total, 31 states and the District of Columbia will receive awards. In addition to 13 corridor investments, we are also awarding several grants for improvement projects and planning. These efforts on existing routes and emerging corridors will lay the groundwork for future high-speed and intercity rail development.
We will make passenger rail more efficient, providing better service in travel markets across the country.
High-speed rail travel offers competitive door-to-door trip times
It reduces congestion on key routes between cities
It reduces transportation emissions
And, most of all, it creates the jobs of the future, the jobs America needs right now.

From TBO’s live blogging report, it sounds like Biden and Obama arrived on separate planes. Is that a security issue? If not, how “green” is it to have the prez and VP taking separate planes?
There was absolutely no good reason for the president and VP to travel 850 miles to give a speech that could have been given at the White House or at least in DC. How “green” is that?
All these “bridges to nowhere” are asinine. Tampa to Orlando high speed is just a payoff to some Obama supporter. A high speed train from Tampa to DC in five hours would be something worthwhile. A high speed train from NYC to LA would be something worthwhile.

I notice Prez skin color only when libs point it out.
Chris Matthews said:
I was trying to think about who he was tonight. It's interesting: he is post-racial, by all appearances. I forgot he was black tonight for an hour. You know, he's gone a long way to become a leader of this country, and past so much history, in just a year or two. I mean, it's something we don't even think about. I was watching, I said, wait a minute, he's an African American guy in front of a bunch of other white people. And here he is president of the United States and we've completely forgotten that tonight -- completely forgotten it. I think it was in the scope of his discussion. It was so broad-ranging, so in tune with so many problems, of aspects, and aspects of American life that you don't think in terms of the old tribalism, the old ethnicity. It was astounding in that regard. A very subtle fact. It's so hard to talk about. Maybe I shouldn't talk about it, but I am. I thought it was profound that way.

”I Forgot Obama Was Black For An Hour.” Was Matthews saying “Golly Gee. He did as good a job as a white guy”?
To me, I don’t care about the president’s skin color and don’t notice until some liberal (socialist) points it out.
To me, Obama is an ultra socialist and his socialist policies are extremely bad for this country.
See whether partisan press says Obama or Alito was disrespectful.
POLITICO's Kasie Hunt, who's in the House chamber, reports that Justice Samuel Alito mouthed the words "not true" when President Barack Obama criticized the Supreme Court's campaign finance decision.
"Last week, the Supreme Court reversed a century of law to open the floodgates for special interests — including foreign corporations — to spend without limit in our elections," Obama said. "Well I don’t think American elections should be bankrolled by America’s most powerful interests, or worse, by foreign entities. They should be decided by the American people, and that’s why I’m urging Democrats and Republicans to pass a bill that helps to right this wrong."
The shot of the black-robed Supreme Court justices, stone-faced, was priceless.
Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) stood up behind the justices and clapped vigorously while Alito shook his head and quietly mouthed his discontent.
Schumer and Rep. Chris Van Hollen (D-Md) are trying to find a way to legislate around the Supreme Court decision.
“The President’s swipe at the Supreme Court was a breach of decorum, and represents the worst of Washington politics — scapegoating ‘special interest’ bogeymen for all that ails Washington in attempt to silence the diverse range of speakers in our democracy,” said Bradley A. Smith.

The SCOTUS decision was based on the constitution. It was NOT political. Obama was extremely disrespectful to make his comments in front of the SCOTUS justices in public. Schumer and anyone that stood up and applauded that comment was extremely disrespectful. Alito was impolite to mouth what he was thinking.
Three bills were submitted at Thomas (LOC).

No money for the Constellation program that was supposed to return humans to the moon by 2020.
NASA's plans to return astronauts to the moon are dead. So are the rockets being designed to take them there — that is, if President Barack Obama gets his way.
When the White House releases his budget proposal Monday, there will be no money for the Constellation program that was supposed to return humans to the moon by 2020. The troubled and expensive Ares I rocket that was to replace the space shuttle to ferry humans to space will be gone, along with money for its bigger brother, the Ares V cargo rocket that was to launch the fuel and supplies needed to take humans back to the moon.
There will be no lunar landers, no moon bases, no Constellation program at all.
In their place, according to White House insiders, agency officials, industry executives and congressional sources familiar with Obama's long-awaited plans for the space agency, NASA will look at developing a new "heavy-lift" rocket that one day will take humans and robots to explore beyond low Earth orbit. But that day will be years — possibly even a decade or more — away.

Many have questioned NASA funds over the years but their missions had created technological advances.
Most liberals like Obama are the ones that say the NASA funds should be used for government handouts.
Infanticide supporters can buy their own ad.
In a curious reversal of its policy against accepting "advocacy" commercials, CBS has announced that it will air an anti-abortion commercial from the right-wing, anti-choice, evangelical Christian activist group Focus on the Family during this year's Super Bowl broadcast.
The commercial will feature Florida Gators quarterback Tim Tebow and his mother.
Pam Tebow was advised by doctors to have an abortion when she was pregnant with her fifth child, Tim, for fear of complications with the birth, when she and her husband were missionaries in the Philippines. Her "personal story" of how her faith convinced her to carry the baby to term will form the centerpiece of the commercial, which is said to have "Celebrate Family, Celebrate Life" as a central theme.
The Denver Post reports that "declining donations" to Focus on the Family over the years has resulted in the loss of 275 jobs at the organization. Even so, Focus on the Family was still somehow able to scrape together the $2.5 to $2.8 million dollar fee for the commercials. They insist that the commercials were paid for by "generous friends" and "generous donors" who share their worldview and that it did not come out of the ministry's general fund.
Why was a commercial from the UCC stressing unity and mutual respect rejected by the network while a polarizing commercial from a right-wing Christian political organization like Focus on the Family is being welcomed onto the air, with apparently wide-open arms, during one of the most-watched television events of the year?
Is there some faction of CBS upper management that wishes to see the network aligned, in the eyes of its viewers, with a rabidly anti-progressive, anti-Democrat, anti-gay, anti-choice religious organization? Or is it simply that Focus on the Family has the necessary funds at hand to buy CBS's integrity to the point that they're prepared to offend tens of millions of their viewers for the sake of their bottom line?
Source: Huffington Post
Update: CBS is considering a gay dating website ad for the Superbowl.
I usually buy the USA Today Monday after the Superbowl to see what ads ran and how they did. I will be especially interested this time to see whether the Tebow ad is in the top 10 or the bottom 10.
While many families will be watching the Superbowl and may be influenced by the Tebow ad, most viewers are beer drinking males that won’t care about the ad.
